I didn’t build success by playing it safe
At 23, I turned down law school to start a cannabis brand that later sell for over $25M. At the time, I knew nothing about cannabis and my parents weren’t exactly thrilled. But I trusted my pull to color outside of the lines — even when logic, convention, and reason said otherwise.
Four years later, I had scaled that instinct into California’s #1 edibles brand, generating $20M a year in wholesale revenue. We IPO’d, and at 26, I watched my stock climb well into seven figures.
That same year, the cannabis market crashed. My stock plummeted. My identity was so wrapped up in being the glue that held my team together, that I didn’t sell a single share. Beneath that loyalty was fear, fear of fully choosing myself.
This same pattern played out in every aspect of my life. I stayed in toxic relationships that drained me. Said yes when my whole body screamed no. Abandoned myself so completely that my body finally intervened — through a chronic illness that isolated me for years.
Until one morning, I woke up, exhausted, raw, done, and whispered the most radical prayer I’d ever made:
